Laura Lawson

Special Education Teacher

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Tennessee Tech University and Master's Degree in Special Education from University of the Cumberlands.  I have worked with children for the past 9 years in different settings.  I look forward to many more years.

I am very interested in making the 2011-2012 school year a successful educational experience for your child.  We will need to keep the line of communication open.  I hope you will communicate your thoughts and concerns about education to me.  I will communicate to you about the progress of your child, classroom projects, and other school/district events.

Home-to-School Folder

Your chld will have a home to school folder.  This folder will come home with your child daily and returned back to school with them daily.  They will be papers for you to keep and others for you to sign and return to school.  It is very important that all papers that need signed are returned to school in a timely manner.  This folder will also have news of upcoming school events.

Classroom Management

I will be using a stop sign as part of my classroom management.  If your child has good behaivor, listens, and completes assignments they are on green.  If a warning is given they will be moved to yellow.  If negative behavior continues they will be moved to red.  This will result in either some loss of recess, note home to parent, phone call to parent, or visit to the principal.  Once your child is on red they may work back down the stop sign when positive behavior is present.  Postive behavior is rewarded by positive praise, positive notes, stickers, treasure box, and free time.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you might have.  I can be contacted on the school phone at 423-663-2520 or you can email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
