What is a School-Parent Compact?
A School-Parent Compact is an agreement with families, students, and teachers to share in the responsibility for improved student academic achievement through a partnership to help students achieve Tennessee’s high standards. HES is committed to increasing our achievement in reading and math. Please read the following responsibilities of our partnership together to work toward improving your child’s education.
School Responsibilities:
- HES will provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive effective learning environment that enables the students to meet the State’s academic achievement standards through highly-qualified teachers, response to intervention, 504 modifications and IEP’s as approved, and counselors.
- Hold parent-teacher conferences in the fall and spring.
- Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress through mid-point reports and formal report cards.
- Be available to receive emails and calls if needed during teachers’ planning times.
- Provide a monthly calendar of school activities.
Parent Responsibilities:
Parents will support our student’s learning by:
1. Signing report cards.
2. Ensuring the student gets to school each day, on time, and ready to learn.
3. Review homework assignments and offer assistance when needed.
4. Support the student’s well-being by attending school functions and supporting school activities.
5. Make every effort to attend parent-teacher conferences.
6. Stay informed of the student’s education and communicate with the school promptly when appropriate.
7. Reach out to the teacher to resolve and concern you may have.
Student Responsibilities:
Students will share in the responsibility of their learning to improve our academic achievement.
Students will:
1. Have good attendance.
2. Do homework and ask for help when needed.
3. Read at least 30 minutes every day outside of school.
4. Give my best effort in the classroom.
